Eligibility Criteria
Candidate must be a local/neighboring resident of the concerned Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body falling under the jurisdiction of the respective Veterinary Institution.
Applicant should be a Bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh.
Must be able-bodied, physically fit, and possess a sound state of mind.
Should have a good moral character.
Essential Qualification:
Passed Matric (10th) from any recognized School/Institution located within Himachal Pradesh. However, this condition of passing 10th from a Himachal-based school shall not apply to Bonafide Himachali candidates.
Desirable: Working knowledge of Animal Husbandry-related activities.
Desirable: Familiarity with the local customs, traditions, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh.
Age Limit (as on 05-02-2026)
The applicant must be at least 18 years old and not more than 45 years of age as on the last date for submission of the application form (05 February 2026).
Application Fee
The official advertisement does not mention any application fee.
Salary / Stipend
Selected candidates will be engaged on an honorarium basis with a monthly payment of ₹5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only).
The engagement will be strictly on a part-time basis, requiring 04 hours of work per day.

Selection Process
Stage-I (Physical Test):
Candidates will have to appear in a Physical Test. In this test, the applicant must be capable of carrying 25 Kg weight up to a distance of 100 meters within one minute. The schedule, venue, and time for the Physical Test will be communicated separately.
Only those candidates who qualify the Physical Test will be considered eligible for the next stage.
Stage-II (Merit List Preparation & Counselling):
The Pashu Mitra Engagement Committee (PMEC) will prepare a panel of 5 candidates on a merit basis for each Veterinary Institution. Shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling and document verification, where they must produce all original documents before final engagement.
Distribution of Marks (Total: 100 Marks):

Essential Educational Qualification (Matric): 85 marks
(Matric percentage multiplied by 0.85) -
Preference for Practical Experience in Animal Husbandry (as per Annexure-B): Up to 4.5 marks, based on the type and tagging/registration of livestock or poultry owned by the applicant or family.

Permanent Resident of the concerned Gram Panchayat/ULB or neighboring Gram Panchayat/ULB: Up to 1 mark.

Belonging to SC/ST/OBC family: 1 mark.

Belonging to BPL/EWS family: 1.5 marks.

Widow / Divorced / Destitute / Single Woman: 1.5 marks.

Single Daughter / Orphan: 1 mark.

Landless family or family having land less than 1 Hectare: 2 marks.

Non-Employment Certificate (no family member in Government / Semi-Government service): 1.5 marks.

NSS (minimum one year), NCC, The Bharat Scouts & Guides, or National-level Sports Medal Winner: 1 mark.
How to Apply
Candidates must apply for the post of “Pashu Mitra” using the prescribed application form (Annexure-A), printed on A-4 size paper.
The application form should be filled in the candidate’s own handwriting using a blue or black ball-point pen and submitted along with self-attested photocopies of all required documents.
The duly filled application form, along with two self-addressed envelopes, must reach the office of the Senior Veterinary Officer of the concerned Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital on or before 05-02-2026 up to 4:00 PM.

The declaration at the end of the application form must be signed by the candidate, confirming that all information furnished is correct and acknowledging that the engagement is purely as Pashu Mitra, with no right to claim regularization or absorption as a regular employee of the State Government.
