The selection process for HP Patwari Selection Process involves three main stages:

1. Written Test (Combined Screening Test):

   • The written exam will test candidates on subjects like Arithmetic, English, Hindi, and General Knowledge at the Matriculation level.

2. Training:

   • Successful candidates will undergo training, and final selection will be based on merit.

Selection Process

The selection procedure is designed to evaluate candidates through a fair and transparent examination system. Below is the complete and updated process in a clear and easy-to-understand format:

1. Mode of Examination

The exam will be conducted in either of the following formats, as decided by the Aayog:

Computer Based Test (CBT)

Written Screening Test (OMR Based)

2. Exam Structure

Total Marks: 120

Total Questions: 120 (Each question carries 1 mark)

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes)

The exam is designed to test both subject knowledge and general aptitude of the candidates.

3. Distribution of Syllabus & Questions.

A. Subject/Field-Specific Questions – 85 Marks

This section includes questions related to the prescribed essential qualification, generally up to the 10+2 level.
It checks a candidate’s core knowledge of the concerned subject/field.

B. General Section – 35 Marks

The general section evaluates awareness, reasoning ability, and language skills. It includes questions from:

General Knowledge (Including Himachal Pradesh GK)

Current Affairs

Everyday Science

Logical Reasoning

Social Science

General English (Matric Level)

General Hindi (Matric Level)

4. Minimum Qualifying Marks
General Category

Minimum 45% marks required.

If sufficient candidates do not meet this, the qualifying percentage may be relaxed to 40%.

SC / ST / OBC / WFF Categories

Minimum 40% marks required.

If adequate candidates are not available, relaxation up to 35% may be given.

These relaxations apply only if the number of eligible candidates falls below the advertised vacancies.

5. Normalization of Scores (If Exam Held in Multiple Shifts)

If the CBT is conducted in more than one shift, the marks of all candidates will be standardized using the Z-Score Normalization Method (Mean & Standard Deviation).
This ensures fairness and equal difficulty levels across different shifts before preparing the final merit list.

6. Document Verification (DV Round)

Candidates shortlisted based on the written exam will be called for Document Verification.

At the time of DV, candidates must bring:

Original certificates

Self-attested photocopies of all documents

Proof of educational qualification

Category certificate (if applicable)

Age & identity proof

Any other documents required by the authority

Candidates must appear in person for the verification process.
