Note:The number of vacancies stated above is provisional in nature and may be increased or decreased depending upon administrative requirements. The final count of posts will be determined by the competent authority at the time of recruitment. Reservation benefits shall be applicable in accordance with the prevailing Government rules and regulations. Out of the total advertised posts, 10% shall be reserved for Ex-servicemen as per the prescribed policy.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:
The applicant must be an Indian citizen. However, candidates belonging to Nepal or Bhutan may also be considered for appointment, provided prior written approval from the Central Government is obtained.

Gender:
Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Commandant.

Educational Qualification:
The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree from:

  • A University established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India,

  • OR an institution set up under an Act of Parliament,

  • OR a University declared as “Deemed to be University” under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956,

  • OR hold an equivalent qualification recognized by the competent authority.

Applicants who have appeared in the qualifying degree examination but are awaiting their results are also eligible to apply. Similarly, candidates intending to appear in the qualifying examination in the year 2026 may submit their application.

However, such candidates must produce valid proof of passing the required examination (Degree Certificate / Final Mark Sheet / Provisional Certificate) within the time frame specified in the official rules.

Please note that Degree, Postgraduate, or Diploma qualifications obtained through distance education or part-time mode will not be accepted.

Important Notes:

  • In special circumstances, the Commission may consider a candidate without the prescribed qualification if he/she has passed an examination of an equivalent standard.

  • Candidates holding professional or technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to a degree are also eligible.

  • All academic qualifications must be obtained from UGC-recognized Universities, Deemed Universities, or institutions approved by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD).

 

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2026)

Minimum Age: 20 years
The candidate must have been born on or before 1st August 2006.

Maximum Age: 25 years
The candidate must not have been born before 2nd August 2001.

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST Candidates: Upper age limit relaxable up to 5 years.

  • OBC Candidates: Age relaxation of up to 3 years for those eligible under reservation norms.

  • Civilian Central Government Employees / Ex-Servicemen: Maximum relaxation of 5 years as per prevailing Central Government guidelines (overall relaxation restricted to 5 years).

  • SC/ST/OBC candidates who are also Civilian Central Government Employees or Ex-Servicemen: Eligible for combined age relaxation benefits applicable under both categories, subject to government rules.

Important Instructions Regarding Age:

  • The Date of Birth recorded in the Matriculation / Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent recognized certificate will be treated as final.

  • No alternative documents such as affidavits, horoscopes, municipal birth certificates, or service records will be accepted as proof of age.

  • Once the Date of Birth is entered in the online application form, it cannot be modified under any circumstances.

  • Except for the relaxations mentioned above, the prescribed age criteria shall not be relaxed further.

 

Salary / Stipend

Post: Assistant Commandant (Group ‘A’) in Central Armed Police Forces

The detailed pay scale is not specified in the notification. However, selected candidates will receive salary and allowances as per Government of India rules applicable to Group ‘A’ officers in CAPFs.

Appointment will be made in one of the following forces based on merit and preference:

  • Border Security Force

  • Central Reserve Police Force

  • Central Industrial Security Force

  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police

  • Sashastra Seema Bal

 

Application Fee

Payment Mode:
The application fee must be paid online only through Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay Credit or Debit Card, or UPI. No other mode of payment will be accepted.

Applications submitted without the prescribed fee or through an invalid payment method (except in cases where fee exemption is officially claimed) will be rejected without further consideration.

Once the fee is successfully paid, it will not be refunded or adjusted against any other examination under any circumstances.

Important:

OBC and EWS candidates are not eligible for any fee concession and must pay the full application fee as prescribed.

Selection Process

The recruitment process will be conducted in four stages as detailed below:


Stage 1: Written Examination (19 July 2026)

Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence

  • Marks: 250

  • Duration: 2 Hours (10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon)

  • Type: Objective (MCQ)

  • Medium: English & Hindi

Subjects Include:
General Mental Ability (Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical Ability, Data Interpretation), General Science, Current Events (National & International), Indian Polity & Economy, History of India, and Indian & World Geography.

✔ Negative Marking: One-third (0.33) marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.


Paper-II: General Studies, Essay & Comprehension

  • Marks: 200

  • Duration: 3 Hours (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

  • Type: Descriptive

Part-A (80 Marks): Essay writing in Hindi or English on topics such as Modern Indian History (Freedom Struggle), Geography, Polity, Economy, Security, Human Rights, and Analytical Issues.

Part-B (120 Marks): Comprehension, précis writing, communication skills, grammar, and language testing (to be attempted in English only).

➡ Minimum qualifying marks will be fixed separately for each paper.
➡ Paper-II will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify in Paper-I.


Stage 2: Physical Standards Test (PST) / Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Conducted for candidates who qualify in the written exam.

Physical Standards:

  • Men: Height 165 cm, Chest 81 cm (5 cm expansion), Weight 50 kg

  • Women: Height 157 cm, Weight 46 kg
    (Measurements recorded up to one decimal point; weight as per height-age chart.)

Physical Efficiency Tests:

Men:

  • 100m Race – 16 sec

  • 800m Race – 3 min 45 sec

  • Long Jump – 3.5 m (3 attempts)

  • Shot Put (7.26 kg) – 4.5 m (3 attempts)

Women:

  • 100m Race – 18 sec

  • 800m Race – 4 min 45 sec

  • Long Jump – 3.0 m (3 attempts)

Female candidates must submit a pregnancy declaration before PET.
PST/PET will be conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.


Stage 3: Interview / Personality Test

  • Marks: 150

  • Conducted by the Union Public Service Commission

Only candidates qualifying in PST/PET will be called.
NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate holders will receive due consideration at this stage.


Stage 4: Medical Standards Test (MST)

Conducted after the Interview. Detailed medical standards will apply for eyesight, hearing, general health, etc.

Eye Standards (Corrected):

  • Better Eye: 6/6 or 6/9

  • Worse Eye: 6/12 or 6/9

  • Near Vision: N6/N9

  • Colour Vision: CP-III (ISIHARA Test)

LASIK surgery cases may be accepted as per prescribed norms.
Candidates declared unfit may appeal before a Review Medical Board within 24 hours.


Final Merit & Selection

Final merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in the Written Examination and Interview. Candidates failing to meet Medical Standards will not be appointed.

Tie-Breaking Criteria:

  1. Higher total marks in Written Exam

  2. Higher marks in Paper-I

  3. Senior in age

  4. Decision of the Commission in case of further tie
