SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026- Vacancy Details
Under the Apprentices Act, 1961, the State Bank of India has announced a total of 7,150 Apprentice training seats across various States and Union Territories. These vacancies have been allocated category-wise for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and UR candidates, along with horizontal reservation benefits for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per government rules. The number of apprentice seats mentioned in the notification is tentative and may increase or decrease depending on the bank’s actual requirements. Applicants are allowed to submit their application for only one State during the recruitment process.

Candidates must fulfill all the prescribed eligibility conditions as on the eligibility date i.e. 01-04-2026. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026. Applicants are required to complete mandatory registration on the NAPS portal before submitting the online application form. Candidates can apply for apprenticeship engagement in only one State and will be allowed to appear for the examination only once under this recruitment project.

SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
Selection for engagement of Apprentices will be based on (i) Online Written Examination and (ii) Local Language Test, followed by a Medical Examination. Final selection of candidates will be subject to successful verification of eligibility criteria, qualification in the local language test, and medical fitness as prescribed by the Bank. SBI will also maintain a State-wise and category-wise waitlist for one year from the declaration of results or until the next recruitment process begins, whichever is earlier. Candidates from the waitlist may be considered only once against vacancies arising due to non-joining of selected candidates, subject to the availability of eligible and qualified applicants.

Each section in the Online Written Examination will have separate timing as prescribed in the official notification. Candidates should note that there will be negative marking for incorrect answers, where 1/4th of the marks assigned to the respective question will be deducted for every wrong response. The question paper, except for the General English section, will be available in 13 regional languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, along with English and Hindi, depending on the State applied for. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD categories will receive a 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks on aggregate. The final merit list will be prepared State-wise and Category-wise in descending order of marks obtained, while in case of a tie, preference will be given to the candidate higher in age.
